Office on Aging staff is ready to assist you with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled, Income Tax and a wide range of other programs.

PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE AGED AND DISABLED
PAAD is a program available to senior citizens 65 and over and disabled persons receiving Social Security Disability whose income is under $20,989 for a single person, and under $25,735 for a couple. This program enables eligible people to purchase their prescriptions for $5.00. You can also use the PAAD card to get a reduction on your automobile registration.

LIFELINE
This program is available to persons who are 65 or older, or persons receiving Social Security Disability whose income is under $
20,989 for a single person and $25,735 for a married couple. The program enables eligible people to receive a $225 credit on their electric and/or gas bills.

SENIOR GOLD
Senior Gold is a prescription program for those who have income between $20,989-$30,989 if single or $25,735-$35,735 if married. You must be 65 or older or disabled and receiving Social Security Disability. There is a co-pay of $15.00 per prescription, plus one half of the remainder of the cost of the medication.
SALEM COUNTY PRESCRIPTION SAVINGS CARD PROGRAM
This is a prescription discount card for any Salem County resident. The program provides a 10-to-50 percent savings on regular retail prescription prices at participating pharmacies. The cost for a household is $20.00 for one year or $40.00 for three years. There are no income limits, quantity limits, or deductibles. Brand name and generic drugs are covered. The following programs are partially funded by the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES
This program is designed to respond in critical situations to a request for assistance of Salem County residents 60 years of age or older and to disabled residents. The program offers assistance to residents who are in situations of abuse, financial exploitation or those who need protection of their rights. To make a referral please call the Salem County Office on Aging at (856) 339-8622 or (856) 451-1207 ext. 8622.

SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATION
This program provides local and out of county transportation for residents 60 years of age or older and to disabled residents. Transportation for shopping trips, educational programs, and employment needs can also be arranged. The program services all fifteen municipalities in Salem County with funds received under the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Act (Casino funds). Service is available weekdays from 8:00am - 5:00pm. ASSISTED TRANSPORTATION
This program provides help for those who are unable to safely ride the Specialized Transportation System alone and have no one to help them ride the van. For more information contact the Office on Aging at or ext.8622.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS
These are available to homebound senior citizens that are not capable of going to a nutrition site for a meal. There is an evaluation process to determine those most in need of these meals. Contact Sharron Schultz at Meals on Wheels,  (856) 935-3663.
WEEKEND MEALS
Weekend meals are delivered to homebound senior citizens on weekends and holidays. Saturdays meal is a hot meal and Sundays meal is a precooked frozen meal that the participant must reheat. There is an evaluation process to determine those most in need of these meals. Contact Sharron Schultz at Meals on Wheels, (856) 935-3663 to apply.  
LEGAL SERVICES
This program handles cases involving governmental benefits and entitlements, landlord/tenant relationships, protective services and pensions at no cost to the customers. The legal provider is South Jersey Legal Services, (856) 935-8047.
CONGREGATE NUTRITION SITE
Salem County has three centers where a nutritionally balanced meal is served. Recreational activities are also provided at the centers. New applicants for the sites must call Home Care and Hospice Care of South Jersey, Inc., at (856) 878-6035, to see if they are eligible for the program. Sites are open 9:00 am-1:00 pm.
ADULT DAYCARE
This program provides medical supervision and care in a group setting for adults that should not be left alone during the day. Some financial assistance may be available to help cover the cost. For more information contact Allyson Bailey of

STATE HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM (SHIP)
Trained counselors are available to provide you with information on the various health insurances available to all Salem County residents on Medicare and to help you make an informed decision in regard to health insurance. IN-HOME SERVICES
This is an in-home service program that could provide a certified home health aide to assist with personal care and home maintenance. For further information contact Susan Riley at (856) 878-6022.
JERSEY ASSISTANCE FOR COMMUNITY CAREGIVING
JACC provides a broad array of in-home services and supports that enable an individual at risk of placement in a nursing facility to remain in his/her community home. A uniquely designed package of supports is intended to supplement and strengthen the capacity of caregivers and to delay placement in a nursing facility. JACC is not a Medicaid program and requires a cost share based on income only. The individual may own a home and car and have countable resources below $40,000 for an individual and $60,000 for a couple. CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM/NJEASE HOMECARE
CAP is a uniquely designed program to supplement the assistance an individual receives from his/her natural support network as well as from community agencies and volunteer groups. This program has all the services available through the State Medicaid Program. There is a cost share for the participant based on the participant's income only, in the event the participant is married. The individual may own their own home and car, but cannot have resources above $2,000 or an income above $1,737 per month. Contact your NJEASE Office on Aging at (856) 339-8622 or ext.8622.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Caregiver Support Program provides assistance to Caregivers providing care for someone 60 or older or those who are 60 or older caring for children under the age of 19.

Services include Home Health Aides, Occupational Therapy, Short-term 24-hour live-in, Adult Daycare, Caregiver Support Group, Companion Service and Legal. For further information contact the Office on Aging at or ext.8622.

PHYSICAL FITNESS
This program provides exercise and fitness programs at no cost to the participant. Weekly fitness programs for seniors are offered through the Campbell Fitness Center in Salem and the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in Carneys Point.
