UNITED WAY YOUTH MEET THE FREEHOLDERS (Cancelled)
SALEM -- Ten "Youth United Way" student leaders from Schalick, Woodstown, Penns Grove and Salem high schools will meet Freeholder Board members Wednesday night at 6:30 PM to experience County government in action. The evening concludes with the students viewing the regular Freeholder meeting from the public gallery.
These student leaders will hear from Freeholder policy makers on such topics as road engineering planning and construction, facilities management, educational support, central administration, human resources, business development, election preparation, prosecution and corrections, long term nursing care, farmland preservation policy and mental/public health education.
The Youth United Way program recruits teen volunteers for special projects and training that will prepare them for adult community leadership roles. Youth volunteers participate in service learning projects and fund-raising events. For more information on Youth United Way contact Bonnie Lohmeyer, Project Coordinator at .
