COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT RECEIVES ADDITIONAL FLU VACCINE

Salem County Public Health Coordinator, Herb Roeschke, announced that the Salem County Health Department has received an additional 100 doses of the flu vaccine.

Since the supply is limited, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that only people identified as high-risk receive the vaccination. High-risk individuals are as follows:

All children 6-23 months of age.

Adults 65 years of age and older.

Pregnant women in their second or third trimester.

People 2 years of age and older with underlying chronic conditions, such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease.

Roeschke stated, "It is important that those who are at high-risk for the flu protect themselves, and receive a flu vaccination as a precaution."

Residents who are eligible to receive a vaccination must bring a note from a licensed physician stating their condition or reason for being considered high-risk.

Vaccinations will be given on an appointment basis only. Appointments will be scheduled and given on a first come, first serve basis. To make an appointment, call the Salem County Health Department at (856) 935-7510 ext. 8477 Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:00pm.

Again, those who are eligible are reminded they must bring a note from their physician, stating their condition or reason for being considered high-risk.
