Freeholder Director Signs CWA Contract

SALEM - Salelm County Freeholder Director Dave Sparks signed the CWA Local 1085 contract Wednesday afternoon after receiving written confirmation from union leadership that it would no longer block the inclusion of clarifying language.
Freeholder Sparks signed the collective bargaining agreement in the office of Labor Counsel John Hoffman. He had received a fax earlier in the day from the union that reflected the language clarifications that the County had negotiated.
"I am glad that this contract is now finalized and we can all move forward," said Freeholder Director Dave Sparks. "It has been an arduous process, and it was unfortunate that including clarifying language with the master agreement became a stumbling block. We now have a collective bargaining agreement that is clear. It is an agreement that is fair to both management and employees."
The CWA represents approximately half of the more than 400 union-eligible titles.
